↓ more ↓How I’d love to go to The Corner
Where the street is paved in bricks
To take the day to watch ‘em play
With the gloves, the ball and the sticks
Baseball fever risin’
Like a fastball under the chin
And as the record shows, only Heaven knows
If the hometown team will win
But that’s
Baseball
Down at The Corner
Michigan and Trumbull
Down at The Corner-
Imagine the Fun
This diamond destination
Is known around the world
And at the Hall of Fame,
they all know the name
Where pennants have unfurled
They know the overhang, the rooftop shots
And the centerfield flagpole too-
If you’ve got a love for the Grand Ol’ Game
I’ve got a very special place for you
They wouldn’t need to light a fuse
To see fireworks tonight
Not with left-handed hitting lineups
And a breeze blowin’ out to right
I’ll hear the sounds of the game
comin’ from the field
Like the crunch and the pop and the crack
If you don’t come along I will fill you in-
That’s if and when I ever get back
Meet me down at The Corner
Honey, let’s make it a date
I promise you a ball will be had by all
Once the man unlocks the gate
The CD comes in a handsome card-stock jacket showing a bustling destination that many a baseball fan will recognize.
