BIO
Terramara formed in Minneapolis in 1998 around Rob Meany, lead vocalist, songwriter and keyboard player. Although the line-up has changed over the years, the group has been consistently performed as a four piece of bass, drums, guitar and keyboards.
In 2000, the band recorded and released their first album, a self-titled CD produced by Ken Chastain (Greazy Meal, Flipp, Beat The Clock), and recorded at Pachyderm Studios in Canon Falls, Minnesota. The CD was released on their own label, Redhead Productions. The album enjoyed solid local support of radio and press and established Terramara as a unique sound on the scene. Some critics compared them to rock giants such as Sting and Steely Dan.
Terramara has played extensively in Minnesota, performing regularly at major outdoor music festivals such as the Taste of Minnesota and the Festival of the Heart & Soul, as well as many of Minneapolis' most respected music clubs.
In 2002, the band recorded a single called Invisible People, to be included in the soundtrack to an independent film, Revisions.
In 2003, the band was recognized as one of the top 15 artists in the Midwest by DiscMakers Independent Music World Series. In the contest, screened by Billboard and TAXI, Terramara's "Jaded Little Love Song" was selected from over 1200 submissions for inclusion on DiscMaker's compilation CD.
Also in 2003, Terramara's song, "Summer's End", was selected as a top ten finalist from over 300 submissions in a Demo Review Panel & Contest sponsored by NARAS (Grammys) and ASCAP in Minneapolis.
In September 2003, Terramara went back into the studio to record their follow-up album, Four Blocks To Hennepin. As these things often go, the recording took twice as long as planned. Almost 18 months later, the new CD was finally released. Check for the latest news on the Terramara website.
