Shawaza begins like a sweeping whisper. Fingers dance on the strings of a dulcimer, speaking in unworldly poetic verses. Deep, vibrating drums answer the calls of the dulcimer as haunting string arrangements build up
Bio / Background
Released in the Spring of 1997, Shawaza is a collection of tracks that were written between 1993-1997, in the intention to be used for Belly Dancers. Being very intrigued and fascinated with middle eastern music and percussion, Jeremiah embarked on a journey that he never thought would have gotten him as far as it did. After a few months of hesitation in the release of Shawaza, due to fear of judgement and ridicule from the middle eastern dance community, Jeremiah released EVE03 (as its commonly known) to overwhelming response and success. In the Summer of 1998, Shawaza was nominated for Best Belly Dancing Music. Vindicated by the response, Jeremiah completed his third release The Gathering Season.
