acoustic-tinged alternative - melodic grace and intellectual songwriting
Bio / Background
The first and only CD from the group known as Sofa Kingdom is a great starting point and introduction to the music of Laura Marie (former lead-vocalist of Sofa Kingdom) and spin-off group Things Between. Look for new developments from former members to be linked to this site.
I couldn't believe this was not a major label act. This CD was a slick breath of fresh air, alternative music without the whiny angst, and with the substance to get the point across. I have very few CDs I listen to from start to finish, this is one of them. Highly Recommended. -an Austin Music fan
The acoustic-tinged rock of Sofa Kingdom (Things Between) rings with melodic grace and moody atmospherics. Singer/songwriter Laura Kleffner maintains an easy pop sensibility in her songs, while her vocal style combines the soothing talk/sing approach of Natalie Merchant with the emotive croonings of Til Tuesday's Aimee Mann. -Ramiro Burr of Billboard Magazine
