Pure, straightforward, home-grown rock 'n roll music that emerged from the aftermath of a horrible car wreck involving classic rock, new wave and today's best alternative.
Bio / Background
Having recorded their debut album, Kick It, with Brian Dozoretz (Interpol, Elefant) and Al Perrotta (Herbie Hancock, Tony Bennett), the Shake has already propelled itself through the ranks of the NYC Indie scene to share the stage with internationally acclaimed acts such as the Living End and play some of New York City's most prestigious rock venues in just over a year.
After becoming disenchanted with the soulless, monolithic, assembly-line music of contemporary bands that seemed to emulate the sound of their influences and blend in with each other, Jon Merkin and Eliad "Eddie" Shapiro, former high school band mates, formed the Shake in the summer of 2005 with the intention of creating a group that would accomplish the very same thing.
But that's not what happened, and their dreams of finally fitting in soon withered away and died.
So it goes.

Unlike other groups, each member of the Shake is schooled in a different style of music and draws from a different pool of influences ranging from rock to, the blues, to jazz, to punk. The result is a constantly evolving, more musically diverse style of rock that utilizes distinct melodies and harmonies in order to maintain a straightforward and familiar feel that hearkens back to the days of the early British Invasion, when rock and roll could change the world.
The Shake currently gig around the Northeast, spreading the gospel of Rock and Roll through their passionate and energetic shows.
Cheers.
