Music created for the night, this hour-long collection is dark, meditative, and thought-provoking and features the group's unusual mix of percussion and homemade instruments.
Nocturnalis introduces a new musical language populated with electronics, metal cans, prepared guitars, and the Thwackoleum.
Their world will redefine yours.

Chain the Door
Based in the Bay Area, sandbox trio (aided for this third release by Beth Custer, already clarinetist with Clubfoot Orchestra, Trance Mission and Eighty Mile Beach) bring us one hour of intense music.
↓ more ↓Nocturnalis reminds me of some intuitions of the first recordings of bands like Hunting Lodge or The Metgubnerbone. A deeply dark and tense music, full of raising noises. The tracks of this CD are capable of involving the listener totally and catching his attention. The title of this album gets the point and represents very well what the band does with their percussed homemade instruments. Somehow this album is an ideal meeting point between jazz improvisation, ambient, tribal and industrial music and it's the best you could get.
Chaz Carpenter
The Improvisor
Rhythmic and groovy, Nocturnalis posseses a kind of late night rapport, evoking "brain dead" in a most provocative way. I found this music to be moody and luscious. It carried me almost into a dream state. Rhythmic repetition soaring with chordalities and harmonic wavelike textures. Most hypnotic. An even blending of electronically generated wash and percussion with acoustic instrumental voices producing a lovely landscape ripe for the imaginary.
