An ecclectic blend of Texas styles played by a twangy bar band.
Bio / Background
Formed 2003 in Austin, Texas, The Rivercity Seven are a handful of longtime Austin musicians that got together to write some enduring Texas songs.
Individually they are Alex Crump, Robb Froman, John McClane, Jim Bowles, and Mike Burns.
Originally a studio project, The Rivercity Seven began performing live in 2004 to an enthusiastic response and a growing following. Their music reflects many elements of Texas, a meeting of Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm, and Townes Van Zandt, to name a few.
As a band, they strive to defy any genre assignment, but instead allow they song itself to dictate it's style. Likewise, their albums are always stylistically varied and you never know what to expect from track to track. Only that it is authentically Texas and comes from the heart.
↓ more ↓"The Last Joint In Town" is the band's first full-length release, and deftly represents the full spectrum of the band's sound, from tearful Honky Tonk ballads, to rolling Texas boogie, to folk-inspired protest anthems, this album will keep the listener on their toes...
