Bio / Background
From the serene island of Puerto Rico to the dangerous streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn; from singing in the church choir to wowing the hippest of the downtown crowds, singer, songwriter and producer RICARDO ALVARADO has always been a man with a mission.
RICARDO immigrated to the U.S. from Puerto Rico in 1966 with his mother, six brothers and a sister. He immediately got hooked on Motown, and with his high voice, began imitating the likes of the Stylistics and Diana Ross, all the while planning his career in music.
It all started with a project entitled, "The Light." "I wrote the collection of songs quickly, it was just there," he recalls. "I actually started writing on my own because I couldn't find writers with whom to work." He soon found he had a talent for melodies. "But I knew I had to find a producer." As fate would have it, he soon began collaborating with Michael LaGennusa and something magical happened between the two. Together they produced a series of recordings.
