Ambient compositions using theremin, recorder and guitar; "an offering of sound for the mind, body and headphones." -Brian Williams, The Dilominac
Bio / Background
William Bryan is a massage therapist who has combined his interest in anatomy and physiology with his love for ambient music. "My desire was to create a CD that I could use during my massage sessions, but that I could also enjoy myself when relaxing and chilling out." And he has done just that!
Using the ever obscure Theremin (an electronic device invented in 1921 by a Russian physicist) he is able to employ his bodies own bioelectromagnetic field as the basis of many of the compositions. "It's like putting Tai Chi to music", he explains. "In order to create the tones needed for chord construction, I have to hold perfectly still for long periods of time." The effect is haunting. Chord structures roll in and over top each other much like ocean waves, drawing the listener out to sea.
Along with the sounds of the Theremin, William also plays English Recorders, Guitar and Bass, filling out the ambient compositions.
↓ more ↓That, along with the fact that he set the rhythm and echo patterns at 120 BPM, "which the body readily can identify with", makes Purple Dawn a truly unique listening experience!
