Born in Elmhurst, Queens, New York, Singer/Songwriter-Porcelana was actually a childhood nickname her grandmother referred to her as throughout upbringing. Porcelana was raised by grandmother Carmen and uncle William Patino, in an A' typical Hispanic-American home. She grew up in a dedicated household as Carmen affectionately nurtured her.

Porcelana developed an appreciation for music at a young age listening to her uncle and grandmother's record collection that spanned from Blues and Jazz to Spanish-Tango and Bolero. Enriched amongst Frank Sinatra, Billy Holiday and Diana Ross albums while equally hearing the cultural Latin sounds of artist's like Celia Cruz, Sandro, and Spanish bands like Los Angeles Negros and Los Terriculas.

Porcelana's uncle moves little before her 10th birthday, leaving her a black sheep-thrust into a dysfunctional family life with her natural mother, step-father, and siblings. There, she sole' related to her eldest brother-a DJ, they shared their room and love for music. He'd spin Freestyle, House, and Rap records that assisted her to adapt to the environment, yet still only masking her then-ongoing endearing emotional pain.

To cope isolated in a new habitat, dealing with a gripping depression she found solace in writing, and soon became a nationally published poet, with publications in The Rainbow's End and Poet's Corner collecting numerous awards and accolades during her academic career attaining an ore' of noted acclaim. She enlists and wins a modeling contest-gains the attention of a talent agency that enrolls her in local plays and community theater projects and takes shots for commercial catalogues.

After a shoot, a friends dare prompts her to recite in an Uptown lounge as a lyricist read, before she knew it Spoken Word became what she'd continue to do in her coming years. Surrounded by all styles of music she individually connected to bands like The Doors, Pink Floyd, R. E.M., Depeche Mode, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Radio Head.

As she read in the city, she became all the more-increasingly passionate about her appreciation for alternative rock, punk and funk-soul, frequenting areas in NY city's village underground like CBGB's. She made her singing debut at a high school talent show with a local rap crew, belting songs with an energy and vocal signature rasp much like that of the late Janis Joplin only likewise reminiscent (if you can recall and/or imagine) mixing the fire of a fresh on the scene (right of the block) Mary J. Blige.

As a performer she bears an artistic intensity that exhibits her deepened evolved lyrics. Porcelana's emotionally charged pure raw angst passionately delivers accompanied by ripped vocals that not only touch but grip all of those whom embody a soul.

Embarking now in making spanish material she leaves through the sounds in her music no doubt to be a proud Latina, but through her various works as a poet, singer and songwriter, we anticipate she'll be giving us much to write about and listen out for in times to come.
