This recording of guitarist and composer Matthias Ockert unites Electronica, Rock and New Music under the driving improvisations of Jazz.
Bio / Background
This recording is a compilation of original music that guitarist and composer Matthias Ockert has written over the last 10 years while living in Berlin. It unites Electronica, Rock and New Music under the driving improvisations of Traditional and Free Jazz.
Since 1995, Matthias traveled several times to the United States, and had the good fortune to meet and become friends with many musicians and accomplished teachers who inspired him and supported his endeavors. Matthias has studied guitar with Costa Lukacz, Attila Zoller, Bill Connors and composition with Carlo Inderhees, Wolfgang Rihm and Sandeep Bhagwati.
While in the US, Matthias performed with musicians whose energetic style gave his music an intense groove. With their cooperation, and the significant contribution of his brother Hans-Peter, Matthias was able to create this recording.
