Rock trio with soul and indie influences featuring female vocals, guitar and drums
Bio / Background
If lust and angst spawned a love child its name would be Nico Vega. Hailing from the American Midwest and Pacific Northwest, Nico Vega has dug deep and planted its roots in Hollywood, CA, though Hollywood is not their only conquest. It’s merely a heavy sleepover before the trip begins.
Aja Volkman’s sultry raw vocals front the band in an onslaught of love as she shakes, stomps and stimulates the eyes and ears of the crowd. Nico Vega’s distinct sound is rounded out by Rich Koehler’s gritty guitar. The band’s backbone is reinforced by Mikey Pena’s instinctive drumming style.
Nico Vega has impacted the music scene in a dynamic way this past year with their aggressive live show and refreshingly unique sound, tantalizing fans and heavyweights industry wide.
Nico Vega is a cult, not a band - so drink the punch.

I was already running late getting to the Troubadour to check out Nico Vega. And to make matters worse my friend and I could not find parking.
↓ more ↓Luckily we made it just in time. They were just beginning to set up for Nico Vega's set. When I first got in the place seemed a bit empty but by the time N.V went on the place was packed.
N.V sure knows how to put on a show. Once I got an eye on Aja, the singer, it was hard to look away. Her good lucks, sultry voice, and killer stage presence make her truly a site to see. About mid way through their set she acted out a dialog of a women fed up with her lover. And the part of the lover was played by the guitar. I was digging it and wished they would have played a bit longer. They are playing at SXSW and if you are lucky enough to be able to make it there you should definitely check em out.
