Odd times and ambient groove. Cascading loops and vocal harmonies. Home-made instruments and funk for your butt.

Neon Brown- Nice Feathers
From leakedalbums.com by Robert Mc Namara
I've been listening to Neon Brown for about four days now and I am very, very impressed Nice Feathers is even better than the wonderful collection of space-jam traveling jazz-funk music that was Fiber. I always try to describe how music makes me fell when I listen to it and the feeling I get when I listen to Nice Feathers is none in particular, just good.
The bass-lines are nicely in sync and flowing with the percussion while the guitars are never overstated and add a bit of flavour to proceedings. Vocals are sparse yet meaningful and highly original. In fact they can be slightly Jeff Buckley at times. First three tracks, 'Nice Feathers', 'Inertia' and 'Keychain' are brilliant but the record really kicks in on 'Fancy Walkin', the bass-line is just amazing and the distorted vocals are crazy.
'Aphid Tea' is just as good for different reasons and the trend is beginning to become apparent.
↓ more ↓Every track is completely different yet Neon Brown are starting to forge their own very unique sound. You get images of American City streets with years old barbers, buskers playing the blues, homeless people asleep resplendent in their own dirt, record shops blaring out all kinds of eclectic tunes, hot dogs stands manned by a middle aged Czechoslovakian man, preachers proclaiming the word of the lord and yellow taxi's buzzing from block to block.
If you have any interest in Funk, Soul, Jazz, Freeform or just music that's interesting then you are gonna really like this wonderful band. 'His Knee's are Rubber' is another fantastic track that doesn't actually go anywhere but that's what makes it great. Followed by 'Pants then Shoes', 'Eddy', 'The Long Hall of the Jambox' and those bass-lines oh my god. Thos bass-lines, Jesus. The Woods Brothers, I salute you and you're Whacksh*t!
