Americana-Celtic-Acoustic Blues with flutes and haunting harmonies.
Bio / Background
Morning Vision Blue's music style is an innovative fusion of Americana-Celtic-Acoustic Blues with flutes. MVBlue Unplugged integrates energetic acoustic compositions with beautiful flute and Irish whistle flourishes to create much more than pretty background music. Blue Tapp Scheffer’s amazing 3-octave-plus-range vocals and haunting harmonies complete the package with professional genius.
BLUE TAPP SCHEFFER
lead and b/u vocals, rhythm guitar, mandolin, flute, Irish whistle, percussion
Blue's amazing vocals range from the powerful reverberating spirit of Grace Slick, Ann Wilson and Janis Joplin to lilting angelic highs in the vein of Allison Kraus and Sarah McLachlan. Blue is a self-taught musician and has been writing and creating music for over 20 years. She has written much of Morning Vision's original music.
↓ more ↓Her experimental style is a challenge to categorize but her musical influences include Laurie Anderson, Lila Downs, Holly McNarland, Tori Amos, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Heart, Susan Tedeschi, Portishead, Cranberries, Patricia Barber, Billie Holiday and Sam Phillips. A defining moment in her life was the first time she heard Coltrane's "Ole". Her lyrics are poetic ruminations into faith, God, life and eternity.
RON HENDRICKS
lead guitar
Ron's innovative and unmanicured playing style brings a gritty edge to Morning Vision. He began playing at the age of 13 and by the age of 18 was traveling with the band Destiny, opening for such artists as Amy Grant and Carman.
After a long haitus, to pursue bad guys as a professional bounty hunter, he returned to his pursuit of music. He has since been making his way in and around the the St. Louis blues scene. His love of all musical styles makes it difficult for him to pick a "most influential" artists. However, some of his favorite artist include Phil Keaggy, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, ZZ Top and Petra. His love of God and music are readily apparent in his playing. Ron also likes to tinker on the bass guitar and on his harmonicas.
Also Don "The Shiz" Brown on percussion
