"Mary explores the southeastern clawhammer repertoire on no less than six different banjos – a gut-strung Goldtone Elite Classic, a Gibson RB250, a Deering White Shell Laydie, a Bacon Professional, a Cedar Mountain, and a gourd banjo. With all of these distinctive voices, I couldn’t help but feel I was out on the porch, swapping tunes with at least five or six other musicians, each boasting his or her own stylisitics, but each with a deep understanding of the same exquisite regional form."
