Art-Punk. Emo. Synth-Rock. Songs of heartbreak and self-destruction.
Bio / Background
The power trio of Lycaon Pictus returns with their second album, "Personal Disaster." This album follows the plight of the Lycaon Pictus, this time subject to the treacherous terrain of the heart. Love, heartbreak, self-destruction... This album is a very personal journey into darkness, via synth-driven punk rock.
"An art-punk /synth/bass/drums band. The moog-meets-Brian Wilson songs are supported by John Bonham-esque drumming & Holger Czukay-isms. Here they succeed in capturing the sound of their incendiary live show in the studio. Recorded using all analog & tube equipment, & tape, capturing the warm sound of some of their heroes' albums like pioneers PiL, The Fall, Can, Wire, Eno. But none of those bands had lyrics like this."
Parasol Records
"Aaron Diskin used to play with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' kinetic, stinging guitarist Nick Zinner, but Mr. Diskin's music for the synthesizer-bass-drum trio Lycaon Pictus is darker, recalling the apocalypse imagined by forerunners like Pere Ubu.

Laura Sinagra, New York Times
"Brooklyn art-punks Lycaon Pictus once would've fit just fine on Ralph Records, though how their deranged dirges creepy-crawl though post-nuclear slime owes as much to Pere Ubu as to Tuxedomoon."
Chuck Eddy, Village Voice
