An homage to the jazz of the late fifties and early sixties. Straight Ahead/Cool and even bit 'free' at times.
Bio / Background
The Long Beach Jazz Quartet is Tony Bray on Tenor and Soprano Saxophones as well as Rhodes. Paul Luis on Guitar. Nathan Light on Acoustic Upright Bass. John Bellino on Drums. We also had our friend Girish sit in on Tablas for a couple of cuts.
The whole concept for the group as well as the concept for this CD was to write and play material that felt like it could have been done during a time when jazz was cool but without restraint. The late fifties or early sixties.
