Bio / Background

"Laurie Katherine Carlsson has the talent to pursue a musical career that anyone would be proud of," says David Menard, music reviewer for the Skagit Herald.

Laurie's unique voice has led her through a life of music, including tours across the US and Europe and attendance at Berklee College of Music. Growing up in a musical family, she began singing at the age of 8 and went on to play a variety of musical instruments. It wasn't until after high school that she stumbled upon the acoustic guitar and began crafting songs.

Laurie's songwriting tells a story much in the tradition of some of her main folk influences: James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King. Her music has taken on a more rock/pop edge through her interest in artists like Paula Cole, Ben Folds, and Ani Difranco.

The album "Life Is Made Of" was a cross-continental project beginning in a friend's house in Connecticut and ending two years later at Gravel Voice studios in Seattle.
