Lissa's newest release, hot off the press for 2005. It's a rich and cohesive mix of traditional and original acoustic music, brought together by the warm tones of the fiddle and sweet vocals throughout.
Bio / Background
"Her talent lies in crafting pendulating melodies . . . innovative freewheeling arrangements..." Dirty Linen
New England fiddler and folk singer Lissa Schneckenburger grew up in Maine as an active member of the contradance community, where she cut her teeth as a musician at a very young age. She has continued to explore music throughout her life, leading to her graduation from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts (2001). Her list of mentors includes Greg Boardman, Alasdair Fraser, David Kaynor, and Hankus Netsky. While embracing a diverse pallet of musical influences, she still stays true to her New England roots.
Lissa's newest release, on her own label Footprint Records, shows just that. It's a rich and cohesive mix of traditional and original material brought together by the warm tones of her fiddle and sweet vocals throughout. Add to that the energetic buzz of a top-notch band and you've got a match made in heaven.
↓ more ↓Acoustic guitar, double bass, mandolin, viola, cello, and percussion all add to the traditional fiddle tunes and ballads. This recording will have several CD release tours nationally, so check the web site to see if there will be one near you!
Lissa already has two solo albums under her belt (Different Game 2001, and The Mad Hatter1997) and three band collaborations (Spin 2003, Halali 2003, and Phantom Power 2003). Past praise of Lissa's work includes Jay Ungar (composer of Ashokan Farewell) who says "Lissa Schneckenburger's CD, Different Game is a knockout. Lissa's fiddling is artful, skillful, inventive and full of feeling. I had to listen again and again!" Folk Roots raved "Lissa blows out the cobwebs in no uncertain fashion . . . Lissa Schneckenburger's name is one we ought to be hearing more of."
Lissa has played all over the world as a fiddler and vocalist, including appearances in Russia, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Canada, and of course, the United States. She has opened for artists such as Alasdair Fraser, Skyedance, Karen Casey, Kate Campbell, and Judy Collins. She has been featured in countless radio broadcasts including "Bound For Glory" broadcast from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, KPIG radio in Watsonville CA, WBZ Boston, and annual features on Maine Public Radio's "Live at 11". Her television appearances include the PBS specials "A Taste of Chanukah" and "A Taste of Passover" filmed in New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall.

A Rising StarStuey wrote on June 29, 2007
If you want to get in on the ground floor with a rising star in the folk fiddle world, buy this CD! On this release Lissa's voice is as clear as a mountain spring, and her fiddle as sweet as honey. Great choice of not-so-common material, and top-notch engineering make this release a must-have for fans of other young hotshot folkies such as Crooked Still, the Duhks, and Nickel Creek. Recommended!
You won't regret getting this oneMyrrlin wrote on June 30, 2007
I had the pleasure of hearing Lissa live and bought the album months ago. I don't go a day or two without playing some cut off the album. It is just great. I am pleasantly haunted by her rendition of "Minstel Show". One great folk/acoustic album. Thanks Lissa!
