Indie pop with folk and electronic occasions
Bio / Background
Kate Tucker is a Seattle-based singer and guitarist, originally from the great state of Ohio. She plays a blend of smart, eclectic music that isn't shy about drawing upon different genres and moods from folk to rock to pop to silence...In Seattle, she is currently playing with the talented Brian Opalewski, an incredible bassist and chess master, and Nic Danielson - drummer, pianist, and noise-maker extraordinaire.
Kate has a warm rich voice that has been compared to Natalie Merchant's and Dolores O' Riordan's, but it certainly carries its own signature tone that is hard to capture by analogy. Her music is in the same way also difficult to fit into any pigeon-shaped holes, yet she lists among her most prominent influences: Mazzy Star, Cowboy Junkies, Radiohead, Portishead, Beth Orton, Aimee Mann, Patty Griffin, and Wilco. Such a varied list of musical inflections may be speak to her own musical range and curiosity, but it also represents the deeper roots of her lyric sensibilities.

She continues to explore all of these alternative moods in her songwriting, moving lately in the direction of what most might call indie pop, for lack of better words. This summer, Kate, Nic, and Brian recorded their debut EP, Eros Turannos, with Ryan Hadlock of Bear Creek Studio as producer.

Her new album is getting a lot more press, but this one is actually better.
