Bio / Background

Back in 1997, an artist emerged with a lyrical depth that paralleled her tremendous musical ability. At age 18, her debut album Chupacabra spawned a Top 20 hit single in "Legend of a Cowgirl". which was a favorite on MTV/VH1. Her quirky and insightful lyrics gained her the credibility for spots on prestigious shows like Sessions at West 54th Street and NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien. After Multiple worldwide tours and record sales of over half a million copies, Imani continues to push the envelope with her unique synergy of pop and new school urban funk that have pople making an apt comparison to Prince.

Imani's Latest release Afrodite, was writen, produced and arranged by her and creating a record which is prolific and unequivocal in today's world of watered-down pop. Her songs are riff-heavy and chock full of gritty sincerity, which serves only as a compliment to her aggressive, sexy basslines.

her band little jackie is better. this album was released before then but the highlights on this album are: afrodite, on our way, these days, got that hottie
