Home to Henry combines hummable melodies and tautly controlled dynamics with a lyrical ability to express complicated emotions simply yet creatively and to portray characters in song with real depth and feeling.
Their music is first and foremost about the tune: the song’s the thing. Every song contains a melody that sticks. The arrangements are clever without being too cute, and each song has wonderful little “bits” for the careful listener to catch.
The lyrics cover topics both common and unusual for a rock band. For every “relationship” song like "Back to You" or "Tethered", there’s a song about a daughter dealing with her mother’s dementia ("A Different Kind of Puzzle"), or a song like “Feels Like Winter,” which takes some tried ‘n true rock ‘n roll clichés and flips them to tragic effect.
