A sound too young to be your parents music and maturity that puts boy band music into the grave. Here's music for people who like their soft music with a bit of hot sauce or rock and roll with a bit of sugar.
Bio / Background
Phil Hammon is a singer/songwriter exploring everyday life with a musical and humorous twist. With three CD's entitled "The Librarian's Nightmare", "Frankenstein Baby" and his BRAND NEW REALEASE “Over My Head” it is apparent that Phil likes to have fun with his music. Whether dealing with issues of national concern, good/bad relationships or personal flaws, Phil always maintains a sense of humor. With a tendency to poke fun at his own life, directly, he tries to show people it is okay to laugh at one’s self too. The goal is to lighten the load we all bear, emotionally and physically, through stress. Life is too short to be wound up like a spring and it is wonderful when people use music to help them unwind. However, don't be surprised if Weird Al is not what you get with Phil Hammon music. Actually, the music on his CDs has a mature Adult Contemporary/Soft Rock/Pop type of sound with a discerning edge.
↓ more ↓You might actually think of Phil’s music as the double edge sword cutting into the soft underbelly of the soft pop genre. Always trying to find balance in life Phil also attempts to balance multiple genres into one pleasing format.
Phil admits that his new release “Over My Head” is a little darker than his first two releases but he still found good and funny things to write about. This CD will dive through a whole range of emotions, genres and textures but he feels you will enjoy the ride. The CD starts with the upbeat tempos and cool harmonies of “When You Come On My Way”, “Rain On The Range” and the title track “Over My Head”. He moves you smoothly into some power ballads “True” and “San Francisco Bay” and then gives a bit of a rush with “Queen of the Flight Deck”. Once you get rocking and back on track he sends you down an edgy, tense, dissident adventure with a version of Canadian songwriter Aaron Saloman’s “Alone In Your Song” while closing the CD with a very fitting “Requiem For A GuitarSlinger” co-written with Steve Counter.
