The 3 holy V's... Vampires, Vaudeville and Van Halen...
Bio / Background
It was in junior high when Holiday Childress and Michael Allen began collaborating musically, thus beginning their lifelong obsession with music. After spending their teenage years playing in various bands with various styles the two decided it was time for something unique and fun, most importantly something that felt completely natural. In 1993 Allen and Childress dissolved their current group in order to strenghthen their artistic versatility. With the addition of bassist Patrick Kelly, the Goodies were born. The three seem to have found their niche. By combining a truly original sound with an infectious stage energy The Goodies, within one year, gained critical praise and a diverse cult-like following throughout the Southeast. Taking their musical sideshow on the road, they began playing the Southeastern Music Circuit. Their touring schedule became so busy that it enabled The Goodies to focus on the group alone.
↓ more ↓They continued touring and recording independently until mid 1999 when the three decided to take an extended and open ended break. Allen moved to Hollywood to pursue soundtrack and session work. Childress took time off to prepare for the arrival of his first child, while Kelly returned to college to study English, French and poetry. Three days after Christmas 2000, due to requests from their fans, The Goodies came together to do a one time reunion show in Asheville, North Carolina. Realizing the chemistry was stronger and better than ever they immediately set to work on writing new songs. Within two weeks of the reunion Allen had moved back to Atlanta. After six months the band had released their independantly recorded Postcard EP. The Goodies have just released their new double live CD/DVD simply titled The Goodies Live.
