Acoustic, upbeat rock focusing on great guitar sound and crisp vocals, blended with inventive lyrics that paint pictures and invoke emotion. These guys are a taste of something different.
Bio / Background
Together since 2003, Good Morning Chester began as a cover band, playing local venues in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. As their set list evolved to include more and more original songs, support for the band continued to grow and they were soon opening for national artists including Blessed Union of Souls, Brian Vander Ark (of the Verve Pipe) and Dexter Freebish. Encouraged by this success, songwriter Christopher "Scooter" Way penned additional material and, along with his brother Michael Way entered the studio in the fall of 2004. With their full-length debut album, "Little Things" now complete, Good Morning Chester has started gaining well deserved attention in the New England area, playing to larger crowds at Boston venues and music festivals. Their upbeat acoustic guitar sound, crisp vocals and inventive lyrics make them a welcome new face on the indie, roots rock/pop rock scene.
↓ more ↓Good Morning Chester is: Christopher "Scooter" Way - lead vocals, guitar Michael Way - vocals, lead guitar Jeff Brunelle - vocals, keyboards Bradley Gaudet - vocals, drums Christopher "Scooter" Way bought his first guitar with book money during his freshman year of college. Just six months later, he was playing in local bars and clubs and started writing original material soon thereafter. In his own words: "The music I write comes from and is inspired by everyday life. After all, it's the little things that make life worth living." His percussive playing style tries to lay down an emotional web in which the rest of the band becomes rhythmically entangled. A former member of Tired of Janet, Level 7, and Understanding Eden, Scooter admires the writing styles of both Edwin McCain and Adam Duritz (of the Counting Crows). Michael Way first appeared on stage with his brothers at the age of 13. A natural entertainer, this laid-back young man can fire up an audience with his emotion, stage presence and improvisational style. In his own words: "I try to approach every song as if I've never played it before-then let the song take me where it wants, rather than where I think it should go." Although not influenced by any one artist, Mike admires the work of Carlos Santana, The Counting Crows and the Dave Matthews band. A stage veteran at just 17 years old, he is certainly a musician to keep an eye on. Jeff Brunelle's playing style is as varied as his musical influences, spanning rock to rap to jazz, from Jamiroquai to Ben Folds to Green Day to Cypress Hill. A piano player since the age of 3 and a former self-labeled "band geek," Jeff has played in concert, marching and jazz bands, in rock/groove bands and has entertained world dignitaries as part of a 5-man jazz combo during his college years. In his own words: "I think I'm definitely the "jazziest" in the group, as I tend to get into chords with jazz voicings, rather than the standard voicings generally used in alternative rock or folk, and use syncopated, bouncy rhythms."
