A modern yet classic sound, a Country/Blues root that evokes the spirit of an early Sun Records session.
Bio / Background
I entitled this CD Haunted Hollowbody as a tribute to my favorite guitar, the 1964 Guild Starfire III.
Unlike most electric guitars which are made out of solid wood, the Starfire is an acoustic guitar with electric pickups.
This collection of songs at times seemed to spring forth from the depths of its hollow interior.
I sometimes felt that I was simply the medium and that once I got into the right zone, I could just keep strumming and let the guitar suggest the next chord change.
I think that there is a modern yet classic sound here, a Country/Blues root that evokes the spirit of an early Sun Records session.
Can a guitar really suggest musical phrases or at least a certain musical vibe?
I believe that this hollow-body guitar did just that.
Perhaps it is haunted.
