Song-based, melodic rock, with lyrics that live in the space between shadow and light
Bio / Background
True Confessions is the second CD released by veteran songwriters Bill and Rob Sunkel, a/k/a Desperate Measures. The duo's debut effort, Two Can Play (also available on CD Baby), was Number 18 on CD Baby's Top Sellers Chart during its first month of release, August 2003.
Although it is being released after Two Can Play, the songs on True Confessions were actually recorded several years earlier, in 2001. The lyrics are a bit darker than those on Two Can Play, and tackle subjects ranging from infidelity and divorce to aging and unfulfilled dreams of glory. Evident among the brothers' eclectic songwriting influences, as always, are Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, The Beatles, Brian Wilson, Randy Newman and Burt Bacharach.
Rob and Bill are again joined on this CD by ace New York hard rock guitarist Chris O'Loughlin, who brings his brand of concentrated heat to the anthemic "We Don't Have To Worry 'Bout Us.

King-esque licks that grace the title track and the quasi-psychedelic fuzz tones heard on "The Last of It." All other instruments and vocals are by Desperate Measures. Artwork on the CD was contributed by old friend and visionary New York City photographer Bill Smith, some of whose varied and creative body of work may be viewed at www.BSArtist.com.
If you are one of the many who enjoyed the Two Can Play CD, or if you simply love music with depth, intelligence and passion, True Confessions is an essential addition to your CD collection.
