Stripped down, subtle affair sounding roughly like Low performing snail's pace versions of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day'.
Bio / Background
this bar has no one left is a last call, emotional slow burn. From the looped moment of clarity of 'Some Bartenders', the bass heavy trance feel of 'In a Cigarette Voice', to the poignant piano-led sadness of 'Face Down on Concrete', Robert Deeble has delivered six rhythmic observations of lives slowly spiraling out of control. These six songs are at once beautiful and harsh in their portrayals of characters attempting to find solace from an existence filled with sadness and loneliness. Recorded over a period beginning in late fall of 04 and ending in early spring 05 at Type Foundry Studio in Portland, OR, by Adam Selzer. Additional instrumentation by Rachel Blumberg (Norfolk & Western, M Ward) drums and vocals, Todd Corbett (Tracker) bass, Amanda Lawrence on viola and Adam Selzer. Limited edition letterpress sleeve.
RIYL: Lou Reed, Low, Joseph Arthur and Leonard Cohen.

↓ more ↓"The songs are quite simply lovely, and comparisons to singer-songwriters like Nick Drake and Elliot Smith
wouldn't be out of place. Leonard Cohen would be more apt. With cerebral stories and and in-depth character
studies, Deeble has perfected his own take on flawed characters caught by their trespasses and loneliness."
Altar Magazine
"stripped down, subtle affair sounding roughly like Low performing snail's pace versions of Lou Reed's 'Perfect
Day'". Americana UK
"subdued and slow, but in a strange, subtle way, Robert Deeble's music is surprisingly heavy. Like Duluth
molasses-core band Low, Deeble plays music that's thick with haunting melodies and eerily affecting sounds."
Treble
"Deeble trawls dive bars and waterfronts with a sturdy, weathered slow-core that might seem more layered than
Elliott Smith's best and most fragile work; but the root of simplicity is still here." Ink19
"His third full length, 2004s Thirteen Stories, was one of last year's low-key highlights, and his latest six song EP
shares the same quiet intensity. Deeble's scratchy vocals and world weary view often earn him comparisons to
Lou Reed; there are moments where Deeble sounds like he is channeling The Blue Mask. If we're lucky Deeble's
rejuvenation will carry over to another full length with the gentle fury of this bar has no one left." Amplifier
