Bio / Background
David George grew up in London, England and is a dual citizen of the UK and Canada. David is a BMI songwriter and former recording artist on A&M Records Canada. All songs are written and performed by David George and published by HummingbirdLane Music Publishing BMI.
Here are a few notes on the songs on It's A Beautiful World:
Catwalk
I was thinking about "I'm too sexy for my shirt" and wrote this which sneaks in some references to outsourcing and the state of manufacturing in the US re China. Would be fun to hear at a Catwalk Fashion show.
It's A Beautiful World
Inspired by Maigritte and the Beatles. I love the surrealist imagery and the paradoxical idea of confinement and freedom.
A Bit of Both
This is a song I originally wrote in the seventies. Inspired by Lee Marvin's "I Was Born Under a Wandering Star". It was released by Avenue of America and made it to top forty in Canada. It was actually number 1 in a couple of small markets.
↓ more ↓I thought I'd redo it since it was a prototype rap song.
Catalina
A fictitious character -- echoes the style of the Magic Realist authors.
Heaven On Earth
I wrote this after reading Richard Dawkins' book The God Delusion. I like the idea of an atheistic hymn...Hope Richard approves.
Technological Slaves
Wrote this in the eighties when Answering machines were the newest must have technology. Just think, you never have to miss a call! Look at us now.
48 Hours
An off-hand remark made while crawling into bed late one night tired. "I need 48 Hours in a day..." So much to do; so little time. Seems like everyone has the same complaint.
Hope
Love to hear this with a gospel choir!
Love in the City
I always think of Midnight Cowboy -- Jon Voight & Dustin Hoffman roaming the streets of New York City.
Home to You
Wanted to write a secular type Christmas song - a challenge for me. Has an early Simon & Garfunkle feel.
It's a Beautiful World!
David George is also a filmmaker. His recent documentary - The Battle of Little Sayler's Creek - follows Confederate and Union reenactors while they recreate one of the last battles of the Civil War before Lee's surrender at Appomattox.
David directed, edited and composed music for the film which is currently seeking a distributor. You can see the battle scene at:

Sister Beatrice Explores...9:00min
Produced & Directed by David George
Starring Brian George
Sister Beatrice Explores... was very recently accepted by Al Gore's Current TV Web site.
http://www.current.tv/watch/23648680
The character is based on Sister Wendy Beckett who hosted an internationally popular British series on art.
We would like to develop Sister Beatrice Explores... as a series for Cable TV. We think it would great fun to have Sister Beatrice explore any number of subjects related to art and/or popular culture, politics, current affairs...
Brian George -- best known as Babu on Seinfeld -- is an alumni of Second City improv troupe in Toronto with Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Martin Short and others...
