Bio / Background
Dakota Max (electric guitar, and vocals) and Cole Chitty (acoustic guitar, and vocals) formed the Juneau, Alaska quartet, Contra Public, in 2001. In 2002 Contra Public added drummer Alex Romero, and late that year they met bassist Bud Curtis, thus completing the line up known today as Contra Public. Contra Public began playing the local Juneau scene with bands like Peabody's Monster, Dag Nabbit, and other Juneau emo, funk and hardcore bands, soon developing a local following. Nine months later, with a couple tracks already on the local radio station, the band toured interior Alaska during July of 2003. Contra Public played venues and festivals from Anchorage to Fairbanks and everywhere in-between, including very successful shows at Humpy's in Anchorage, The Totem Inn in Healy, The Marlin in Fairbanks, and even Alice's Champagne Palace in Homer.
Contra Public provides a strong, energetic live performance highlighted by the melodic vocal work of Dakota and Cole.
