Bio / Background
More than two years in the making, "All That Matters" is Bryan's sophomore studio release. Recording this time in the Nashville area with Shawn Conley & Todd Sholar at the producer's helm, Bryan brings his altered tuning, sermon-song style to twelve tracks with his own take on "praise" songs, Celtic, Gospel, singer/songwriter, contemporary folk, and what Bryan calls "spirit-folk".
Song lyrics & stories-behind-the-songs complete with hyper-links are available in a pdf on Bryan's website at: http://www.bryanfield.net
Two songs on "All That Matters" are fund-raisers for a couple of projects:
FIRST - A portion of the proceeds from "Enough For Everyone" will go into the National Presbyterian Hunger Program - http://www..org/hunger/
SECOND - A portion of the proceeds from "Lyrical Freedom Riders" will go to the We Shall Overcome Fund - http://www.highlandercenter.org/wsoc-fund.

"Lyrical Freedom Riders" tells the story of the 1961 Freedom Riders and their brave, pivotal chapter in America's struggle for Civil Rights.
Along with the release of All That Matters in late July 2007, Bryan excitedly announces that a portion of the proceeds from two songs will raise funds for two programs in which he deeply believes. Enough For Everyone AND Lyrical Freedom Riders will respectively benefit the Presbyterian Hunger Program AND We Shall Overcome: The Fund. Bryan's newest project dubbed All That Matters - coming in July 2007 - recorded, mixed, and mastered at the Nashville-area at Red Alert Studios features original songs spanning various genres from folk to Celtic to gospel. All That Matters includes the title track, a laid-back folksy tune exclaiming that "love is all that matters" AND Enough For Everyone, a folk-rock wakeup-call declaring that abundance is the truth we have to share with a world frightened that there is not enough food, clean water, love, peace, and goodness to go around.
Guest artists on All That Matters include Todd Sholar (various keyboards & percussion), Shawn Conley (bass & electric guitars AND vocal debut on Get Back Behind Me), Geno Weatherbee (drums), Dale Hardiman (drums), Troy Engle (mandolin, octave mandolin, fiddles, dobro, banjo), "Cookie" Weatherbee (backing vocals), the choir of First Presbyterian Church in Gallatin, TN (backing vocals on Lyrica (Celtic Prayer), Abby Sholar (backing vocals on Call That Christmas), Destiny Gleaves (backing vocals on Enough For Everyone) AND Meagan McFarland (backing vocals on Enough For Everyone).
Bryan's professional music-related memberships include ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) and serving as Co-coordinator of the Greensboro, NC Regional Workshop of NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International.
Bryan’s calculated vocals draw comparisons to some of his contemporary influences - James Taylor, Bruce Cockburn, and David Wilcox - while his precisely-picked guitar work owes more to an experience he had when he was young: “My parents took me to a Chet Atkins concert when I was three and I was mesmerized.“ Though his songwriting seeds were sewn as a youth, it took a 1983 Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Maryville College in Tennessee, a 1987 Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky, and a career as a local church pastor and campus minister to send him in the direction he’s headed these days.
Bryan combines spirituality and emotional storytelling into a sentimental yet lighthearted style. He tours listening rooms, theaters and coffeehouses AND leads workshops and retreats at colleges & universities, churches, conference centers, and private venues.
Bryan is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA and works part-time as Hunger Action Enabler in North Carolina's Salem Presbytery.
Bryan lives in Greensboro, NC with wife, Diane; daughter, Meagan; two dogs; two mice, and a looney cat named Misty.
