A fictional musical comedy recording act whose characters are "one whitey guy, and three native fellas, two brothers and a cousin". Their recording career began in 1991 when Elvis Manywounds began crank calling the local radio station. These hilarious phone calls were the inspiration for the writers to document the adventures of Elvis and his partners in song. These (mis) adventures mostly deal with substance abuse by the members of the band and other dark themes. The band is originally from Pouce Coupe, BC, Canada and are now based in Seattle, WA.
Their first full length recording, "100% Dick Twang" was released by the band locally on cassette format in 1992. It was copied and shared by fans and musicians and spread rapidly throughout Canada and the U.S. Their musical comedy has continued to win generations of new fans ever since due to catchy melodies and controversial lyrics. With the arrival of the internet, fans found a new avenue to share their favorite music and the hilarious songs of the Dick Twang Band became some of the most popular file shares with over 440,000 recognized. In 2001 their song "Old Blue Car" topped the mp3.com comedy charts. In 2005 Dick Twang Band wrote and recorded a follow up CD "You Don't Know Dick" and also re-released "100% Dick Twang" on CD and digital format. Their song "Voodoo Indian" from the 2nd album was included in the soundtrack of the film "Black Sprockett". There are you tube videos for some of their songs, most notably "Trailer Trash Whore". In 2009 Dick Twang Band wrote and recorded their latest CD, "Not Too Pretty Bad", scheduled for release summer 2009, and includes the hilarious new tracks "Pakistani Trucker" and "Jesus Is For Whitey." The band has performed live, once in Canada and once in the U.S.A.
