DEYA DOVA grew up in Ceduna, where the desert meets the ocean on the edge of the Nullarbor plain in South Australia. Living alongside the traditional Mirning people, from Wilyarnie whale dreaming country, DEYA has been strongly influenced by Australian Indigenous culture and the vast and vivid landscape which continues to inform her music, art & creative expression to this day. DEYA DOVA is one of the only self produced female electronica artists in Australia! Her first productions started with location sampling and vocal recordings out in the desert, in caves and on cliffs.
DEYA DOVA is one of the only self produced female electronica artists in Australia! Her first productions started with location sampling and vocal recordings out in the desert, in caves and on cliffs. These recordings were then used as bed tracks in the studio and feature on DEYA's critically acclaimed first album, So Bravely Human, along with a host of desert rock guitar and vocal songs. The album took her to Europe where she played high profile festivals including Printemps De Bourge.
In 2006, in just 2 weeks & whilst 7 months pregnant, DEYA wrote & recorded her second album The Jasmani Garden; an ambient experimental vocal looping project, singing only for the love of it, recording spontaneous tracks with no lyrics, no structure and no boxes. The Jasmani Garden gained her an avid following, serious festival performances in Australia and Japan and a Music Oz award nomination for best world artist.
Throughout 2008 DEYA was in the studio developing her original sound by taking her stunning vocal looping into the domain of dance, electronica, break beat and indi pop. Her new music brings together a love of earthy electronica, sampling, glitch, cinematic soundscapes, Si Fi sounds and tribal world beats, along with DEYA's unique vocals.
In 2009, DEYA bursts back on to the music scene with her sensational debut single KYIO. DEYA's unique blend of pure pop, eccentric catchy vocals, rich luscious original sound combined with Luke Chables (Mirage Productions) progressive house remix creates a contagious thumping production that is impacting on the dance floors across the country and soon at radio.
KYIO is released on DEYA's own label, Reflekta Records, and is taken from her forthcoming album BURST due for release in September.
