Danny Scherr started writing songs as guitarist for Chappaquiddick +5, a NYC area punk band which played CBGB's back in the 80's. In the early 90's Danny formed power pop band The Sky Violets and became part of NY's anti-folk scene. Anti-folkster Major Matt Mason USA documented Danny's leaving for San Francisco in the "Ballad of Danny Scheer" which was released on Shoeshine Records in the UK.
In 2004 Danny's wistful acoustic ballad "Maybe You're Gone" appeared as main end credit track of "The Girl Next Door" starring Emile Hirsch, Paul Dano, and Elisha Cuthbert, as covered by Binocular. The self-released "Maybe You're Gone" single sold over 2000 copies with no publicity besides the mention in the film credits.
Danny released his debut cd "Richmond Special" (2007) not long after on SF indie label Last Stop Records, receiving non-commercial and college radio airplay in the US and Europe.
