Columbia Fields (formerly known as the Acoustic State)was formed in June of 2002 when Guitarist/Lead Vocalist Grayson Minney met up with Pianist/Keyboardist Eric Heath. The combination of acoustic folk guitar and classical/new-age piano complimented each other perfectly and created a local buzz throughout their neighboring hometowns. Chris Bowes, a newly added member to the band, was introduced in September of 2005.
Bowes, while influenced by the hardcore/ heavy metal genre, added a powerful edge to the music. Bassist Jon Coates completed the line up when he joined in September of 2006. Coates, being a highly experienced musician in CT, fit the role perfectly, giving the band an even more solid foundation. The music that evolved from this quartet was unique considering the diverse musical influences from each individual band member. The band's self-released album "When the Night Falls..." is now available at their shows and online
