Cindy Combs was born in California and traveled extensively with her family before moving to Hawai'i around the age of 10. She attended an elementary school there which issued an 'ukulele to all students, and that is where she learned her first Hawaiian song. Her musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Aretha Franklin, Keola Beamer, and Gabby Pahinui. She is best known for her slack key guitar playing and Hawaiian and jazz styles.
