Christopher Twigg writes songs and some poems and lives in Talgarth in Powys. He goes to London once a month and rehearses in Sydenham with John Cheeseman (bass) and Chris Everett (mandolin). Together they are CHICKEN OF THE WOODS. They have played together since 1999 and recorded one album CHICKEN OF THE WOODS on Floating World records 2001 and another HEARING WHEEL AND OTHER SONGS on Sumerian records (2003). Recently CHICKEN OF THE WOODS have played at RADA, Chez Kristof in Hammersmith Grove and the Apple Tree, Mount Pleasant. In the past
they have supported THE MYSTERIOUS WHEELS at the Priory Arms in Stockwell.
Christopher Twigg's songs are influenced by all the music he has
listened to in all his life starting from Manfred Mann's version of
The Mighty Quinn and George Harrison's My Sweet Lord. Of contemporary
songwriters he likes Will Oldham, Kurt Wagner, Daniel Johnston, Peter
Blegvad and Alasdair Roberts.
He sings, plays the guitar, mouth organ and key boards. Songs are
about : the sacred and the sexual, the sorrow of pride, river and
wood mouths, origins, mothers, hospital, the life of Jacob.
