Catherine Reed is originally a Texas raised gal born in Houston. She went to live in Abilene, Texas at the age of 9 to live with her grandparents when her mother and father died. Her grandfather taught her to fish, hunt, ride horses, work cattle and know the weather changes. In the summers she would go to Round Top, Texas and spend time with her other grandmother learning about the antique trade and historical restoration.
Later she would attend a girls boarding school in San Antonio but her adventurous spirit would lead her to Denver, Colorado to finish her last year of high school and embark on a photography career. She skipped out to San Franscisco to the San Franscisco Art Institute for a photography degree only to find herself lost among paint brushes and city streets. Her longing for the slow speed of the south took her back to Texas to Austin where she began playing in coffee houses and writing songs. Still swirling around like a wild 19 year old can with new found freedom she ended up back in San Antonio where she finally admitted it was okay to study music even if her grandparents didn't like her to. They were certain this would lead her life astray as if it wasn't already. When asked about her choice to follow her career, Catherine says: "The curse of the musician is clear and obvious. It makes no sense in "the world of stability" to wander into a field of no rules and no guarantees and gamble on success, and yet you know beyond a doubt it's what you are suppose to do." Catherine has released five CDs: "Can You See It", "Song For Tommy", "As I AM", "Catherine Reed"and "Love You Forever which was just released January 2010. Her music is available online at ITUNES, CD BABY.COM as well as multiple digital distribution sites including Napster. She has performed in numerous cities on the west coast: Costa Mesa, San Diego, Santa Clara, Santa Monica, San Francisco, San Rafael, and Ontario, California as well as Eugene and Portland, Oregon. Other places: Tacoma and Seattle Washington, Santa Fe and Toas, New Mexico; Tulsa, Oklahoma, parts of Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Illinois. She has entertained listeners from all over the world from the balcony at the Basin Park Hotel and the dinning room of the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas since 1996 and is still performing there today. To her credits add sound designs for a number of theatrical productions in Northwest Arkansas and two original music compositions for educational plays: "Journey To The Center Of Me" and "Magic Carpet Ride", touring statewide.
