It started as a joke, something to do on an afternoon in a basement for four junior high school pals, who record under the pseudonyms Bobby Wendalo, thos e, Foz and Schwa. But after poking a bit of fun at the burgeoning Punk and New Wave movements for a few hours that afternoon, the four friends decided the joke was good enough to revisit at least once more. That simple inertia combined with a continuing desire to make each other laugh has kept BOBBY & THE CHUXX afloat for 28 years: at the end of each recording session, if it's still amusing, they schedule a time to do it again.
Since forming in that surprisingly ambient basement in suburban Kansas City, BOBBY & THE CHUXX have been recording on a semi-regular basis for nearly three decades, amassing a whopping 250 songs on 18 albums. Sure, a lot of it's crap, but c'mon, 250 songs? Isn't quantity more important than quality?
What do BOBBY & THE CHUXX sound like? Many things: a mother's love...new car smell... a freshly baked cake... a steep mountain road on a stormy night... kittens... robots contemplating tears... a Sony Betamax eating up your favorite videotape... a Febreze'd fraternity house...a panic attack... the band that got stranded on "Gilligan's Island" ...daddy's breath after an office party... a band that might cover the theme from "Lidsville" (something they may still do).
