Blake Ian (born March 17th, 1979) is an American singer-songwriter and producer based in Long Island and New York City. He can be found performing live in New York City's most celebrated venues including The Bitter End, Sin-e, Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall, Sidewalk Cafe and Southern Hospitality. He has toured the country, performing at; Eddie's Attic in Georgia, The Stage on Broadway in Nashville, TN and the Blind Melon in San Diego, among many others.
At different times Ian has performed both solo acoustic and with changing backing bands.

==Early Life==
Growing up in the early 90's on Long Island NY, Ian began his musical career as a young teen inspired by Seattle's swarm of super successes like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. He fronted the punk band Timothy Grass. While still in high school, Ian made a switch to an acoustic guitar and began writing folk-rock songs. Heavily influenced by songwriters Bob Dylan, Neil Young, David Bowie and Lou reed he left the punk rock behind and began writing lyrically heavy, singer-songwriter music.
In 1997 Blake Ian was accepted into the Music Conservatory at Purchase College in New York. He attended Purchase where he studied composition and production with classmates Regina Spektor and Dan Deacon. He studied under professor's and professional musicians, Joe Ferry, Jim McElwaine and Dary John Mizelle.

In reviews Ian is consistantly compared to Jeff Buckley, R.E.M. front man Michael Stipe and his idol Bob Dylan.
He was recently mentioned in (New York) The Daily News Gatecrasher section, being spotted out with Lindsay Lohan and John Mayer.
Ian was featured in an article in The Village Voice titled, ?The Reemergence of the New York Singer/Songwriter,? in which he was described as, "... one of New York's best kept secrets.?
==Charity==
Ian is currently working on a music event to raise funds for Smile Train, a charity that helps children all over the world born with cleft lip and palate|cleft lips and palate. The event is to take place in Las Vegas, Summer 2010.
