Bekah Hayes was born and raised in Suffield, CT. She began her recording career in high school, where she attended the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. The year of graduation saw the premier of her first album, a combined effort with Jenn Tyo called "As You Stare At Your Reflection." After high school, she attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she began to experiment outside her preconceptions of formalized music.
She wrote and recorded her sophomore album, "Boys and Girls," during the first two years at Sarah Lawrence. Her voice is filled with depth as she sings about unrequited love, commercialization of religion, and various discomforts in trying to make sense of the world around her. Her music goes beyond that of just another girl at a piano, with her complex arrangements and prodding lyrics that pull the listener into her world of confusion and desperation.
