Mystery surrounds Torment and the band achieved cult status, aided by the fact that the singer/frontman/songwriter Simon Brand committed suicide in 1994. 2. TORMENT are a death metal band from Belgium. TORMENT was founded in the summer of '99 by Jens Decaluw? (guitar), Nicolas Hernandez (drums), Ullie Vandendriessche(vocals) and David Caytan (bass).

Curd "Carlos" Callewaert completed them on guitar. Their homebase is near Kortrijk - Belgium.??TORMENT plays 90's old school influenced death metal with a dark, strange melancholic atmosphere.

The songs have a rather complex structure but they are not just a sequence of riffs. Most important is the song structure and the feeling within the songs.??The fresh and original drum playing, brutal guitar riffs alternating with fine harmonic pieces and an accurate bass characterize TORMENT to what it is today.

TORMENT is distinguished from other death metal bands due to the vocals. The vocal patterns are carefully worked out with a huge variation. A low grunting throat (no slaughtered pig!, heavy and understandable), some backing screaming parts and mighty, dark, clean voice passages add another dimension to the songs.??

4. Torment is a German thrash band formed in 1984 and still active today. Their lyrical content focuses mainly on sex, alcohol, and metal. Their recent albums feature "Torment" as subject in title names.


5. Torment (the Swedish band): Torment is a Swedish metal band. The band were formed approx. late 2003/ early 2004 and split up spring 2005. They played several gigs and recorded a couple of demos.

At the local stage the song Viel of Hate became a classic moshpit experience.

When the band broke up drummer "Lalle" joined Astral Carneval and the singer joined the swedish band The Act.

I guess a really overlooked band, these guys were a vegan sxe band from Carmel city California and released this demo sometime in the 90"s. A shame they never made it further than the demo stage, because I think this demo is really quite amazing, tons of great hooks and some melodic and acoustic parts as well, really really good demo, check it out.
