Tony Furtado (born in Oakland, California on October 18, 1967 of Portuguese and Italian heritage) is an American banjo and slide guitar player and singer/songwriter currently residing in Portland, Oregon. He's a twice winner of the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship in Winfield, Kansas, in 1987 (at the age of 19) and again in 1991. He's released at least 15 albums since his first in 1992. Furtado is a master of Americana music, incorporating a broad array of traditional music styles into his sound.
