The Sparta Philharmonic is an experimental rock band. Formed in 1998 in Sparta, NJ by brothers Greg and Alex Bortnichak, who played a lot of shows, went through a lot of gear, released one EP, Snapshots of A Life Lived on Weekends, and one very rare single ("Polaroid Negatives") before taking a two-year hiatus. In December of '05 they reunited and began piecing together their '04 sessions with Jon Lorman and then worked ceaselessly through July of '06 on all final overdubs, edits, and mixes. They titled the record Paper-Mache Mountains and self-released it on July 21, 2006.

Since then they have moved to Philadelphia, PA, built their own studio and are currently mixing and mastering their second album, due out in 2010 from Atlas Records, who will also be re-releasing their 2006 debut LP in the near future.
