The Rick Ray Band is a five piece psychedelic, progressive, hard rock fusion ensemble that plays with intense passion and fire. Always writing, recording and performing live. Rick Ray formed Neurotic in 1973, that band lasted till 1985. He and Rick Schultz, from the ashes of Neurotic, formed the Rick Ray Band (version 1). That band lasted till 1989. In 1990 Rick formed Riot Act with Jack Ambrose. That band lasted till 1996. Rick decided to quit the live scene and concentrate on recording.
In 2000, Riot Act got back together to record the album 'Maniacal Disastrophe Tour' with Rick Schultz as a guest musician. This led to Rick Ray getting back into concert activity. Riot Act performed it's last gig opening for Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush at the Odeon in the flats of Cleveland in 2000...weeks later The Rick Ray Band (version 2) was born and has been playing live and recording ever since.
They've opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Travers , The Dregs , Robin Trower , Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush , The Steve Morse Band , The Michael Schenker Group , Allan Holdsworth , Kansas , Gary Hoey , Peter Frampton , Lynch Mob, The Mark Wood Band (members of Trans Siberian Orchestra) , The Average White Band, Black Oak Arkansas and others. Their is an extensive Rick Ray, Neurotic, Riot Act and Rick Ray Band catalog of music available from Rick's label, Neurosis Records. His 32nd album, "Can't Lie Hard Enough" by The Rick Ray Band was released in March of 2011.
