In 2008 the Retrogrades disbanded as such and reformed as Hit Factory. As Hit Factory the band released their debut EP in December of 2008. The Retrogrades have been together since 2003, and while their live show consists of a seemingly ever rotating cast of incredible people, the band is mainly comprised of Singer Alex Brewer, Guitarist, Pianist and Songwriter Ben Brewer and Drummer Thomas Abend.

The Retrogrades began with B. Brewer, Abend and Guitarist Sam Lowney and produced several demo's before Lowney left the band. After adding Alex on vocals the band completed a compilation of demo's known as "Sounds of the Whale." After Marshall Frye joined the group in the summer of 2004 the group self recorded a full-length original CD "Artificial People" and released in February of 2005 at the Middle East in Boston with Jim Pearse joining the band on bass. A handful of shows in the area followed and Frye left the group. After a short break The Retrogrades released an 8 song EP titled "MIU?" in August of 2006.
