This bad ass 4 piece band is dedicated to upholding the rock n roll traditions of rebellion, outspokenness, and musical power. The Dunes pay homage to the legends of rock with a foundation of mean beats and original riffs. They rock the stage with an explosion that blasts every ones ears when the sound of their extraordinary music comes from the speakers, expressing their feelings and thoughts through the words and rythms of their music. The Dunes sound features plenty of crunch and dirt on top of its habitual groove and fearless lyrics. They have their own style of expressing themselves and entertaining an audience with the original music they make which has meaning and depth to it. The Dunes steer their hard hitting, conscious sound of rock, while singing about politics, religion, life in reality, and love. Their music also tackles the fun side of life as well. The powerful, grungy tunes, and groovy beats with a few slower jams mixed in amuse and catch the audience's attention at every venue the perform at.
Formed in Norfolk, the band consists of four members; Dan Pravda on vocals and lead guitar, Jeff Schuyler on bass guitar, Joey Proffitt on drums, and Chris Leonard on trumpet. They provide rythm, harmonies, and beats to produce a sound which is unique to the band. A sound they have performed at virtually every venue in the Hampton Roads area, including the Norva. The band has also been featured in the local news outlets including the Virginia Pilot, and Portfolio Magazine. The Dunes are completely independent and have funded all of their own projects including two full length studio albums "Spirits of the Revolution" and "A Lie Called Progress". They have also produced two music videos which can be viewed online. The success of these projects has created a bridge to the public. As their fan size grows, their music seems to grow with it. The Dunes have rocked hard since 2002 and they will continue to endure well into the future.
