Strumpet started playing music together in a basement back when they didn't know how to really play any guitar, bass, or drums. They then started to record some songs with just simple piano and singing with Will playing the music, and the rest of the band collectively writing BS lyrics. Then Strumpet started to rap, and grew slightly more serious. Uprising was their first legitimate song, and their songs grew more and more complex as their musical and technological knowledge grew.
In the summer (2010), the people besides Will (who already knew how to play Piano) decided to learn instruments so they could take Strumpet to the stage. Strumpet has now played many shows including ones at The Camel, Canal Club, and The National. As they continued to do live music, Strumpet moved away from old rap influenced songs, into ones better suited for white boys.
