Simplistic Urge may have started as a hard rock band, but what the group has become is slowly bridging the gap between pop and hardcore. Glimpses of hardcore, post hardcore, and pop find the band in a new rock genre: melodicore. While immersed in the Chicago music scene, SU has played well-known venues such as The Double Door, The Elbo Room, The Congress Theatre, and the Lakeshore Theatre. The band is also well known at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. SU participated in Bodog's ?In the Trenches? Music Competition, a national battle of the bands. They advanced to the second round of competition and gained more respect on the scene. SU also returned to Chicago's House of Blues for their second appearance in Al Roker Jr's XXXL bash with Bellevue Suite and El Guapo. The pinnacle of '06 for Simplistic Urge was taking The Metro by storm during their performance at Songs from a Scene VI with Lucky Boys Confusion.
Simplistic Urge has played with nationally renowned artists such as Letter Kills, Chevelle, StutterFly, Adair, and Collective Soul, as well as being chosen by Q101, Chicago's largest alternative station, to compete in their Local Music Mail Room. Here listeners voted online for the best local band. SU won by over 40%, winning air time on the radio station for their single ?One Sided.? SU was nominated as one of the finalists during Suburban Nightlife's Best of the ?Burbs competition. The band was also featured in a spread in the December '06 edition of Clubline Magazine.
In the summer of '05, Simplistic Urge traveled to Malibu, CA to record Eight Sided Di. With '06 came SU's next EP Pulse of America. '07 finds the band in another stage of evolution. Hardcore and pop clash head on to create SU's newest sound: the EP Bridging the Gap. Two new recordings are on the way, as well as new merchandise and new venues to play. Simplistic Urge has just finished recording their new EP "Drown In Your Own Demise" with producer Steve Russell (As I Lay Dying, Sworn Enemy, Blindside, etc...) It was released Summer 2007.
