Finding his first note on the violin at the age of 6 began his career as a musician. He wrote his first song on an old upright piano that his parents bought from a blind man. The man touched Richey's face and sat down next to him and said, ?You're gonna be something special?. Not really understanding at the time Richey went on to write his first song on the piano at the age of 8. He started taking voice lessons by 10. Then picked up a cheap Sears factory guitar for $35 and the rest is history.
While his Grandfather was the Hong Kong symphony Composer/Conductor for 25 years and his grandmother was a famous Chinese opera singer, Richey grew up listening to an eclectic array of music spanning a spectrum of all genres.
Listening to everything in high school a mix of many influences ranging from Billy Joel to Dave Mathews to Boyz II Men to Nirvana to anything good to Love songs to musicals. Stylistically drawing from his southern, soulful, pop roots. Growing up in a small town of Alpharetta , GA. singing in the church and high school choirs. While attending Belmont University in Nashville , TN. a private music school. Gaining confidence, he continued to find passion in writing and performing. After attending Belmont , Richey headed west and arrived in LA.
